Community Involvement

Sterling Insurance Group believes strongly in giving back to our local communities and regularly donates to a number of charitable organizations. Our contributions and volunteer efforts help create a stronger and healthier environment for our policyholders and employees to work and live.

Sterling Foundation

The Sterling Insurance Company Foundation was created in late 2013. The Foundation was formed to provide gifts to a multitude of charitable organizations. By forming the Foundation, Sterling has given charitable giving an honored place within our corporate culture and allows our employees a greater say in how much we give and to whom.

Cobleskill Regional Hospital

Cobleskill Regional Hospital is the only Hospital in Schoharie County that operates within a 40-mile radius of Cobleskill. There are no urgent care facilities in the area so the importance of the Hospital and the Emergency Room services to our community are critical. The Hospital was built over 40 years ago and although state of the art at the time it is now outdated by today’s standards.

In 2014 the Hospital began its first capital fund drive in 17 years for its Emergency Department and Renovation project. The total project is estimated to cost $6,000,000. The Sterling Foundation is very proud to have stepped up to the plate with a leadership donation of $125,000 over the next five years.

Employee Matching

We have a number of employees donating both time and money to their local charities and the Sterling Foundation matches contributions to eligible not for profit organizations.

Beautifying the Median

Since 2007 Sterling Insurance Company employees clean, weed and mulch the median just outside the Walmart entrance on Route 7 in Cobleskill, NY.  There is also a  crew that maintains the median all summer long to keep it looking fresh and weed free.

Empty Bowls of Schoharie County

Sterling purchases paint and empty clay bowls which are decorated by the employees and then used in a soup-supper fundraising event to support the local food pantries.

Sterling Insurance Company is proud to support our community.
